Introduction to BMI Courses

Business Management Institute (BMI)  Courses are at the core of the "lifetime professional development program" established by the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), and constitute a mulit-campus-based program that provides tangible career benchmarks for managers to track their progress and strive for various levels of competency.  The program was initially established in 1988 at Georgia State University and now includes multiple programs held at the most renowned hospitality schools in the United States.

The following courses are now available:

  • BMI I - Club Management
  • BMI II - Leadership Principles
  • BMI III - General Manager/Chief Operating Officer
  • BMI IV - Tactical Leadership
  • BMI Golf Management
  • BMI International
  • BMI Certification Review Course
  • BMI Food & Beverage  Management
  • BMI Wine & Food Experience
  • BMI Distance Learning : Organizational Behaviour - Team Processes in Private Clubs

For more details on these programs, locations and registration information, please see the CMAA web site under Education.

The first three BMI courses provide the foundation for the Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation along with the Golf Management and Food & Beverage Management Programs (for those joining CSCM after January 2008).

CSCM was pleased to host the first Canadian BMI course (BMI II) in partnership with Ryerson University's Ted Rogers School of Management in January 2010 with 36 participants.  We are in the process of evaluating the potential for additional Canadian BMI courses.
